REFEXCO Accessibility

Access solutions for people with disabilities.

We adapt businesses, restaurants, buildings and homes so people with disabilities and reduced mobility can get around more easily. You can also explore the grant programs that may help pay for your project.

Accessibility is our expertise. Your independence is our priority.

Our solutions

Start with the problem, not the product.

Someone using a wheelchair, a cane or a stroller should be able to get in, move around and use the washroom without help. We take care of the obstacles along that path.

Who it's for

Business owners, property managers and families.

Whether you own, rent or manage the building, we tell you what is possible and who needs to approve the work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who can do accessibility renovations for people with disabilities?

A contractor holding the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) licence for the work involved. REFEXCO (RBQ licence: 5683-0334-01) manages the job; electrical work is done by a CMEQ member and plumbing by a CMMTQ member.

Are there grants for installing automatic doors?

Some programs cover automatic doors and push buttons, especially for businesses and tourist establishments. Their status changes from year to year: the REFEXCO grant tool shows the verified status and official source of each one.

How do I get a government grant for accessibility?

Find the program that fits your building, check its conditions, get one or more detailed quotes, then apply before starting the work. REFEXCO prepares the quote and technical documents; you submit the application.

Does REFEXCO guarantee that I will get a grant?

No. Only the organization running the program decides. REFEXCO helps you check the conditions and submit a complete application.

How long does the work take?

It depends on the work and on the grant program's timelines, if there is one. You get a schedule with the quote.

Is there a charge for the assessment visit?

No. The assessment visit is at no charge: we look at the entrance, the doors and the washroom, then give you a detailed quote.

Have your building assessed.

We visit to note the obstacles, then give you a clear quote and the list of grants to check for your project.
